Capitals stay in race for home final

08 Feb, 2010 08:02 AM
An unstoppable scoring blitz from Jess Bibby and Nat Hurst has kept the Canberra Capitals alive in the race to host a home WNBL grand final.

The Capitals demolished the Adelaide Lightning 99-72 at Distinctive Homes Dome in Adelaide yesterday with Bibby (19) and Hurst (18) finding their attacking groove.

The 27-point win sets up a tantalising top-of-the-table match-up with the Bulleen Boomers on Saturday in Melbourne in the last game before the finals.

Bulleen has already secured the minor premiership while the Capitals must win to finish the regular season in second spot.

If they lose and Sydney beats Perth, they could drop to third and be forced to continue their bid to win back-to-back championships on the road.

Adding even more spice to the clash is the contest between Lauren Jackson and boom 203cm teenager Elizabeth Cambage.

The Capitals' game against Bulleen has been moved from the Boomers' regular home court to the 3500-seat State Netball and Hockey Centre.
