As she fought through a sea of devoted fans, superstar Lauren Jackson couldn't hide her satisfaction in her return to the AIS Arena last night.
She spent the dying seconds on the bench in the Canberra Capitals' 83-60 win over the Dandenong Rangers.
And as the final buzzer sounded before she was swamped by a pack of eager autograph hunters Jackson let out a quiet sigh of relief.
Relief that after three years travelling the world she was home playing in front of family and friends.
''I was very nervous before the game, the people here are just amazing,'' Jackson said as she signed autographs and gave high fives to supporters. ''The reception I got was just amazing, I never expected anything like it and I'm just glad I am back here playing.
''I just feel great that I got my first home game out of the way and now I can just get on with playing and going for the rest of the season.''
