Wollongong is confident it has done enough to sneak into the new-look NBL, with Basketball Australia hoping to reveal the make-up of the relaunched competition within two weeks.
The Hawks have been battling to raise the capital required under the tough guidelines set down by BA to secure a place in the new league, which will commence in October.
The foundation club took a major leap forward yesterday when it announced it had secured, courtesy of mining magnate Arun Jagatramka, the $1million bank guarantee every team must have.
BA officials have remained tight-lipped about how many teams will form the new league. But Wollongong captain Mat Campbell believes it has now done enough to warrant a continued presence.
''There's a lot of relief there, but it's more excitement, because this is the last thing we needed to shore up our bid,'' he said. AAP
