Interim national league vital to keep fans: Beveridge

Canberra-born NBL coach Rob Beveridge has urged Basketball Australia to continue with a seven-team league or risk losing supporters forever.

Beveridge will spend today doing what he has done for the past six months: waiting for a career-defining phone call.

BA announced yesterday it was keen to start its new elite men's competition in October, if it had sufficient support from the seven clubs.

Adelaide, Perth, Townsville, Cairns, Wollongong, New Zealand and the Gold Coast all submitted licence papers to be part of the new NBL.
