Wilson hoping playing for Caps will help retain Opals spot

Canberra Capitals recruit Carly Wilson believes playing under coach Carrie Graf this season will improve her chances of representing Australia at next year's world championships.

The Opals star rejected an attractive European contract offer to sign with the Capitals yesterday, giving Graf a perfect replacement for pregnant guard Michelle Musselwhite.

Wilson hoped joining the reigning WNBL champions would boost her chances of retaining her spot in the Opals line-up.

''I had another offer to go to Europe this year, but when the offer came up from Canberra it just seemed like it was going to be the best thing for me,'' Wilson said.
