WESTON Creek is poised to claim a strong win over Tuggeranong next weekend, after restricting the south Canberra club to 136 first-innings runs at Chisholm Oval yesterday.
Determined to put last round's shock loss to North Canberra/Gungahlin behind it, the Creek finished the day at 1-72 with the wicket of captain Cade Brown the only blemish on the scorecard.
Coming off an outright win over Ginninderra, Tuggeranong failed to fire with the willow and wilted to all-rounder Christian Hanna who took four wickets.
Brown said a strong week at training had set up the Creek's efficient performance yesterday.
''Even though we got beaten by Norths, we were terrific with our attitude and ... I was confident that if we carried that same attitude today that we'd be able to execute a bit better and that was the case,'' Brown said.
''Absolutely over the moon with the way the boys went about it, from the warm-up through to the last two or three overs, I reckon it's as well as we've played in a long time.
