West Indies manager Joel Garner has shown he can still deliver a venomous throat ball after taking umbrage at John Dyson's dire assessment of Windies cricket.
Former paceman Garner took aim at the deposed Windies coach after Dyson said Caribbean cricket was stuck in the past and believed its structure needed a complete overhaul which wouldn't happen.
The former Australia opener was sacked and replaced as coach by his assistant David Williams in August after leading a second-string team to Test and one-day series losses to Bangladesh.
The Big Bird, who sent a few balls down to Dwayne Bravo in the Gabba nets on Sunday, followed up with a rebuke of Dyson yesterday.
''He was with us for about 18 months or so and I think that was more than adequate time if you did the job you were supposed to do in trying to get some sort of order or whatever was needed,'' Garner said.
''I'm not going to say too much about his tenure but we've moved on. We're looking to a different approach to how we did things and that is it.''
The rebuilding Windies have spoken with confidence of matching Australia in their three-Test series, starting on November26 at the Gabba, if they play to their potential. AAP
