Wests-UC quick Adam Hewitt believes his cricketing future lies in the ranks of the all-rounders.
The 19-year-old is more renowned for his talents with the new ball than the bat, but a tough off-season of training with the willow has Hewitt ready to contribute in every facet of the game.
Last weekend, Hewitt struck a patient 66 to help guide Wests-UC to an opening-round win against Tuggeranong at Chisholm Oval.
Wests-UC looked in trouble after losing early wickets, but Hewitt combined with Joe Cooke (86) for a seventh-wicket 141-run stand to overhaul the 238 set by Tuggeranong.
''We had a lot of time to bat me and Joe Cooke, so it was more about constructing an innings, waiting till we got in then scored some runs,'' Hewitt said. ''I've been working hard on my batting to push my way into the top six but I am more of a bowler at the moment.
''I want make myself a genuine all-rounder rather than a bowling all-rounder.''
