ANU continued North-Gungahlin's dismal start to the Cricket ACT season with a commanding eight-wicket victory in round two of the Konica Cup at ANU Oval yesterday.
The students rolled North-Gungahlin for 106, with opening bowler Vikas Gadara finishing with 4-12 off his 10 overs.
The only resistance came from North-Gungahlin opener Sam Miller, who fought his way to 28.
But with a target of just 107, it took ANU only 33 overs to secure victory.
ANU's season is now back on track after suffering a first-up defeat against Queanbeyan.
Skipper Randall Starr said his team was growing with confidence each week.
''We've still got a lot of work to do but we're fighting hard and playing that way,'' Starr said.
''We've lost a few players from last year and there's a few big holes in our bowling.
''Playing against the top teams will be tough for us and if we can keep a competitive nature you never know where we'll finish or who we'll surprise.''
While Gadara was almost impossible to play, Zac Baker also impressed in his first-grade debut. Baker finished off Norths' lower order and took 4-22 in eight overs.
North-Gungahlin's middle order crumbled for the second consecutive week, with just two batsmen reaching double figures.
''Sam Miller was quite handy but they needed someone to stick around with him,'' Starr said.
''It wasn't an easy wicket to play on and Miller was looking pretty comfortable but if they can't support him then they will be in a bit of trouble.''
