It's a new season but the Victorian Bushrangers have started where they left off last summer, thrashing the opposition bowling in the Sheffield Shield match at Adelaide Oval.
After reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League competition in India, the reigning shield champions switched comfortably from the crash and bash of Twenty20 to be in a commanding position in the four-day game against South Australia.
At stumps on day three, South Australia was 2-120 in its second innings, still trailing by 231 runs. On a placid batting pitch, Victoria plundered 9(dec)-643 in its first innings in reply to South Australia's 292, to lead the Redbacks by 351.
Victorians Chris Rogers (149), Brad Hodge (195) and all-rounder Andrew McDonald (114) produced stylish knocks to keep their names in the minds of national selectors before the Test series against the West Indies.
Meanwhile, Tasmania staged a strong fightback in its Sheffield Shield game at the Gabba, restricting Queensland's first innings to 4-75 at stumps on the opening day.
The Tigers were bowled out for 156 with Queensland's 20-year-old left-arm speedster Scott Walter (4-30) and seamer Chris Swan (3-54) doing the early damage to have the visitors reeling at 5-27.
A gritty 40 by tailender Brett Geeves helped, and the former Australian one-day player then starred with the ball, taking 3-25.
