ACT Academy of Sport athlete Jodie Newall has her sights set on the 2012 London Olympic Games after being crowned the NSW International Equestrian Federation dressage champion.
The 20-year-old won the title at the NSW young rider championships in Sydney last weekend.
The win continues Newall's impressive year after she won the National Young Riders Championships in March.
Her performances have led her to look to the future and a possible Olympic berth.
''For sure it is a dream. I'm not sure I could be much hungrier,'' Newall said. ''Although, certainly with horses, the stars and the means would need to align for the Olympics to be a possibility.''
Newall's riding has improved significantly over the past year and she said that the better results were due to her competing with a well-bred horse.
''The horse I have at the moment was imported from Denmark, and I bought him in May 2007,'' she said.
''This horse was bred especially for dressage, just like a thoroughbred is bred for racing, so it does gives you an advantage.
''People think that it is an individual sport, but it really isn't.''
As well as her ACTAS scholarship, Newall also studies at the Australian National University.
Her next big challenge is the NSW Open State Championships in September, which will be her stepping up to the Grand Prix level, the top level in equestrian events, within the next 18 months.
