Draft camp starts, but cream of crop already gone

Nathan Buckley believes the Gold Coast club's inclusion in the AFL has led to a weakened draft camp this year.

More than 70 of the nation's most talented Australian football juniors arrive in Canberra today to start the three-day camp.

But the Gold Coast, which will join an expanded AFL in 2011, has already chosen 12 of the best 17-year-old players to fill its roster.

''The pick of the crop have already gone to the Gold Coast, selected before the draft, [so] in that respect this draft's been a little bit compromised already,'' Buckley said.

''But there's still a lot of good talent there anyway.''
