Qld cops chase Fevola

10 Sep, 2010 09:35 AM
The Queensland Police department has launched an investigation into indecent act allegations levelled at Brendan Fevola as its Victorian counterparts admitted they bungled a probe into his drunken Brownlow Medal antics.

Almost 12 months after he was shown the door by Carlton following his alcohol-fuelled Brownlow display, Fevola's turbulent AFL career is again hanging by a thread.

The AFL has put its own investigation on hold as Queensland Police late yesterday confirmed it would investigate a complaint.

''It is alleged that a man performed the indecent act in front of a woman at Wakerley,'' the police said in a statement.

Fevola has been suspended indefinitely by the Lions for allegedly exposing himself in front of a mother of four on Saturday.

Fevola has vehemently denied any inappropriate behaviour and the AFL Players Association has leaped to the full-forward's defence.

''These are serious allegations,'' AFLPA manager of player relations Ian Prendergast told Radio SEN. ''It's also important that we don't jump the gun in terms of Fev's innocence.''

Barred from attending the Lions club champion's dinner last night, it's been reported Fevola may have travelled interstate.

Queensland Police took action just hours after Victorian police finally decided they would not charge Fevola following his infamous drunken behaviour at the 2009 Brownlow Medal function.

''We believe that it would be unreasonable to take any further action on this matter so long after the events,'' a Victorian Police spokesperson said.

''We accept that the matter should have been dealt with in a much more timely manner.''
