Stynes admits on Twitter that he has a brain tumour

02 Oct, 2009 01:03 PM
A WEEK after Melbourne president Jim Stynes appeared at the Brownlow Medal presentation, he has told friends about the discovery of a tumour on his brain.

Stynes, 43, temporarily stood down from the presidency in July after revealing he had cancer and required surgery.

He had two bouts of surgery in July after discovering a lump in his back, the second to remove what he later called ''some suspect cells'', before he went on holiday with his family.

The former club champion has since kept friends informed about his progress via Twitter and this week told them about the ''little tumour'', adding it was a ''small bump'' in his recovery and he would know more soon.

In the same Twitter message he said there had been some ''good news'' following a recent PET scan, which had been ''all clear''. He also thanked people for their support.

In an earlier tweet this week, Stynes congratulated Melbourne player Aaron Davey for re-signing with the club for the next four years and encouraged supporters to ''get your 2010 membership''.
