ARCHIE Thompson's diving header continued Melbourne's amazing A-League road record but teammate Kevin Muscat provided the fireworks at Suncorp Stadium last night.
The Victory captain refused to shake hands with Brisbane's Matt McKay after they clashed in the second half.
''It's the first time I've ever refused to shake hands with a player after a game,'' Muscat said. ''I won't go into details why, but he and I both know what he did.
''I'm a great believer in what happens out there should stay out there.''
McKay refused to comment on the outburst.
The highlight of Melbourne's night came in the eighth minute when Thompson found the net after teammate Robbie Kruse was the victim of an aggressive tackle.
Brisbane had several chances to equalise and had good reason to feel upset when replacement Josh McCloughan's header off a corner from Ivan Franjic appeared to level the scores in the 74th minute.
However the Roar's celebrations and those of most of the 9904 fans were short lived with referee Ben Williams waving the goal away. Williams ruled Roar defender Craig Moore had impeded Victory goalkeeper Mitchell Langerak's efforts to get out to the ball in the mad scramble in front of goals.
