Melbourne Victory has a point to prove.
After seeing a W-League finals berth disappear through an Amy Chapman screamer deep into injury time last year at McKellar Park, Melbourne's players are intent on reversing the result.
Goalkeeper Melissa Barbieri admitted her side had focused on turning around the 3-2 result, which sealed United's finals spot.
It was Barbieri who watched Chapman's strike one of the W-League goals of the season sail over her head and seal the side's finals fate.
She said after the disappointment of missing out on the play-offs last year, the focus was on all out attack to secure early points.
''Last year when we lost that last game against the Mariners [to end the season] we were disappointed,'' Barbieri said.
''So we said this year that we are going to try and wrap it up before the final few games and that means just getting as many points as we can early on.''
While Barbieri hadn't spent much time pondering the rematch, she said her co-captain Tal Karp had.
A former Canberra Eclipse player, Karp spent her early years in Canberra coaching some of the United players.
Barbieri said getting one back on her pupils would be at the front of Karp's mind.
''Tal actually coached a few of the girls when she was there who are now senior players in that team, so I think there might be a bit of a battle going on there.
''That those girls will want to show what they are capable of now and I think Tal as their mentor, probably wants to win that battle too.''
Melbourne has started well with two wins and a loss to Queensland in its first three games while United has struggled with two losses and a draw.
In Canberra team news, Emily van Egmond will return from Australian duty while defender Bec Kiting is available to play again after battling a long back injury.
The only two players unavailable for Canberra are Christine Walters (calf injury) and Sally Shipard (international clearance).
