Emily van Egmond knows exactly how dangerous Canberra United's late-season run of form can be.
She was on the end of it last year when United knocked her Newcastle Jets team out of the W-League finals.
But this week, van Egmond wants to help United repeat that end-of-season streak to a finals berth, even if it means smashing her old team.
Tomorrow's game against the Newcastle Jets will be van Egmond's first in three weeks after she returned from Australia's campaign at the under-16 Asian Football Confederation Women's Championships on Tuesday.
She started in almost every game for the Australian team in Thailand, coached by former Canberra United coach Robbie Hooker.
Tomorrow she is likely to slot straight back into United's starting line-up to play Newcastle at EnergyAustralia Stadium, in either a midfield or forward role.
United is currently in fifth, three points behind Melbourne Victory.
But if it beats Newcastle and Melbourne loses to the Central Coast Mariners this weekend, then it could be in the top-four for the first time this season.
''I'm kind of looking forward to it, Newcastle is a really nice city, it will be nice to go back,'' van Egmond said.
''I've still stayed close to most of the players, so it will be good to see them. But hopefully we can get a win.
''Newcastle has that never-die attitude and they'll always put a good fight, so we can't get too [confident], we just have to play our game.''
