THE Presidents Cup was slipping away from the International team late on the second day at Harding Park yesterday.
The Americans seemed set to win five of the six matches, and take a commanding lead going into the final two days.
But the Internationals roared back to finish the day honours even, with both sides winning three of the fourball (better ball) matches.
There was a palpable sense of relief in the International camp as the Americans finished the day as they started with a tenuous one-point lead 612 to 512.
International captain Greg Norman said, ''We were down 5-1 in our matches. To come out with a push was an admirable job by my guys.
''I can tell you our team cabin is very, very happy right now and very excited about the way we turned things around, because it could have been a disastrous situation if the trend just kept going the way it was going.''
