In-form trainer Anthony Cummings is looking for a big improvement from talented mare Prima Nova at Caulfield today after she was beaten by nearly 12 lengths at Flemington last start.
A dual Listed race winner, Prima Nova was slowly away, settled back and finished 15th of the 16 runners to Cats Whisker when second-up in the Group2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes (1400m) at Flemington last Saturday week.
''We had a plan to go up the inside rail after she drew a very wide gate, but at the end of the day it didn't suit her,'' said Cummings who has won two Group1 races already this season with Turffontein and Road To Rock.
''Bossy [jockey Glen Boss] said when he pushed her up to be midfield that part of the race turned out to be the fastest part of the race.
''But from a good gate [barrier three] tomorrow we don't have to do anything too exotic. She'll just jump out and be relaxed and have her normal strong finish and in this field I think she should be pretty hard to hold out.''
The Danehill Dancer five-year-old pleased the stable with her first-up fifth to Velocitea in the Group3 How Now Stakes (1200m) when beaten by just over two lengths at Caulfield on September19.
Boss, who rode Prima Nova in those two races, has switched to the Mick Kent-trained Clandon in today's Listed Carsales.com.au Classic (1600m).
Corey Brown, who has won on her before, is reunited with Prima Nova.
Prima Nova is weighted to carry 56.5kg, 1kg less than topweight and dual Group1 winner Purple under the set weights plus penalties conditions and the same weight as New Zealand Group 1 winner Dane Julia. AAP
