Taylor and Martin hit front for Canberra

28 Jul, 2008 01:00 AM
Peter Taylor and co-driver Kim Martin took the lead in the 2008 ACT Regional Rally Series thanks to a win in round four in Canberra on Saturday.

It was enough to take the lead from Canberra's Raymond Day in the Gold Cup Championship. Day and his co-driver Mark Forbes had to pull out of the weekend's round after their Lancer EVO 3 blew an engine on Wednesday night.

Taylor and Martin were in an ex-Neal Bates Toyota Corolla Group Np and said it performed faultlessly.

''The rally was a long and challenging event,'' Taylor said.

Julie Boorman, co-driver to Langon Patrick, moved to the top of the standings in the Gold Cup navigators standings.

There are four more rounds in the ACT regional series with the next at Batemans Bay.
