Rice to become hot commercial property on return

Stephanie Rice, Australia's queen of the pool at the Beijing Olympic Games, will get another pot of gold on her return to Australia.

Rice is poised for a massive financial windfall from endorsements and sponsorships after her outstanding gold medal-winning feats in the 200m and 400m individual medleys and 4x200m freestyle relay.

International Quarterback managing director Chris White said, ''Stephanie will skyrocket as a personality in Australia. She'll be substantially rewarded and deservedly so. The phone has been ringing ... there is no doubt about that.''

You can understand why Mr White would be sporting a huge smile.

International Quarterback, the stable that has Michael Clarke, John Eales and Grant Hackett as their marquee sporting stars, only took over managing Rice on July 1 after her split with IMG.

It's a big fish IMG has lost. Celebrity agent Max Markson predicts Rice has the potential to be the next Ian Thorpe with regards to earning potential out of the pool. Rice ticks all the boxes for potential sponsors.

The former Clayfield College student is sassy, good looking and is articulate.

''Aware of my weaknesses'' was Rice's response when asked what her greatest asset was. Fashion, cosmetics, sports cars ... it would seem there is nothing her face couldn't add value to.

But Mr White stressed International Quarterback would be measured and not sign the first big deal put on the table. ''The corporate endorsement spotlight is all new to Stephanie,'' he said.

''We'll step through a thorough process ... it is imperative we get the right brand alignment for Stephanie. The other key factor to consider is Stephanie's availability her intense training schedule must not be jeopardised.''

Australian swimming coach Allan Thompson believes Rice could compete in at least two more Games. Rice trains under Michael Bohl in Brisbane and says going to the movies is her favourite relaxation. The classic line from movie Jerry Maguire would be ringing in Rice's ears: ''Show me the money!''
