The man who turned supercross into a multi-million dollar entertainment blockbuster in America is about to start spreading the word in Australia.
Jeremy McGrath, 37, from California will race against Australian champion Chad Reed, and a host of others, in three events of the Australasian Supercross Championship.
Canberra Stadium will host one of the events on November7.
McGrath knew from an early age that Supercross had the potential to be successful.
''When we started getting really big TV over here in America then I knew it was one its way,'' McGrath said.
''Now it's a monster over here these days.
''I think Australia is right behind it, but if I can be over there to help it grow and contribute a little bit I'm more than happy to do that.''
McGrath officially retired from competitive racing in 2003.
But he keeps making cameo appearances in motocross and Supercross.
''When I retired from full-time, I did come back and race but I never raced for a title again and that was really key for me,'' he said.
''I was on the tour for about 15years, I know that environment and to be able to have it my way these days, it's a lot more fun.
