GAV SHOWS HE'S STILL GOT IT

27/07/2008 12:00:00 AM
THE George Tooke Shield stepped up in class last weekend when dual Dally M Player of the Year Gavin Miller resurrected his sparkling career. Miller was one of the most fearsome forwards during the 1980s and enjoyed stints with Easts, Wests, the Sharks and Hull Kingston Rovers in the UK. He then became captain-coach of the Goulburn Gladiators, but hadn't been seen on the football field for a number of years until last weekend. Now coaching the Exchange Rabbitohs in the George Tooke Shield, Miller was forced to pull on the green and red jersey as his team was down on numbers. Locker Room understands Miller was outstanding, having a hand in the first three tries as the Bunnies raced to an 18-0 lead. But when he left the field his team crumbled, losing 34-18 to the Bungendore Tigers. We understand that while warming up, Miller's teammates enjoyed a giggle as the former NSW and Australian player took to the field wearing golf shoes.
