GINNINDERRA had a mixed day one in its ACT first grade two day game against Queanbeyan at Kippax Oval yesterday.
It dismissed Queanbeyan for 256 runs but then struggled with the bat losing both openers to be 2-19 at stumps.
Queanbeyan's total could have been a lot lower if it wasn't for the efforts of the Frost brothers. Stephen (47 runs) and Michael (48), along with team-mate Peter Coleborne (54), were the only significant scorers in the Queanbeyan first innings.
Opening the batting Michael Frost attacked the bowling of Luke Thompson from the other end and was on his way to a half century when he was bowled by Daniel Poidevin two runs short.
Poidevin (3-34) took two more wickets as both Bulkely with 2-29 off 17 overs, and spinner Sunil Bhandari with 3-57 off 38 overs, restricted the scoring. Left with five overs to bat before the end of play on day one, Ginninderra's run chase started terribly, losing Poidevin for two runs and fellow opener Chris Brookes for 12.THE wickets also tumbled at Majura Oval yesterday with 13 scalps falling as North Canberra Gungahlin dismissed Wests for 187.
In response Norths were 3-54 at stumps. Comets spinner Matt Nason did most of the damage for Norths, taking 3-54.WESTON Creek captain and PM's XI hero Cade Brown scored his second duck in as many weeks yesterday as the Creek finished day one of their two day match against Anu at 2-65 in response to ANU's first innings of 215.
Fortunately for both Brown and Weston Creek, his opening partner Adam Rhynehart was in good touch with the bat and finished on 42 at the end of the day.
