Aaron Stubbs has won the 128th Stawell Gift by over a metre, after leading from the thirty metre mark of the famnous annual 120 metre race.
The eighteen-year-old, odds-on favourite from Lismore never looked threatened, scorching down the turf track in 11.93 seconds.
Paul Tancredi finished second, and backmarker Matt Davies stromed home to finish third.
Sentimental favouirte Josh Ross, a two-time winner failed to qualify for the final, being defeated in his semi-final. Stubbs, a former Keilor Gift and Maryborough Gift winner, is the current beach sprint national champion.
The youngster said after the race that he had been concentrating on his starts, and that was what gave him confidence during the race.
"This is massive (I'm so happy) ... it means so much", Stubbs gasped after his win.
Breaking twelve seconds is considered an excepotional performance on the grass track, which is slightly uphill, and often favours runners proficient over 200 or 400 metres.
It was Stubbs' third visit to the world's oldest and richest foot race, and he appeared destined to win once he took out the sixth semi-final in commanding style.
