A lean, mean running machine

Tom Learoyd-Lahrs hasn't felt so light on his feet since he was 14.

That's probably because the Canberra Raiders prop has dropped back to the playing weight of his junior days.

Learoyd-Lahrs has stripped 5kg off his frame for this season, largely due to the longest injury-free run he has had in his six-year NRL career.

He's now playing at 110kg, the weight he carried as a pudgy kid playing juniors in Year 8.

The difference now is there's no puppy fat.

He's lean, powerful and wound up like a jack-in-a-box.

Already the strongest man at the club, Learoyd-Lahrs has now added mobility to his game, allowing Raiders coach David Furner to get more minutes out of his most explosive front-rower.

And after three years marred by injury and suspension, Learoyd-Lahrs believes he is ready to live up to the potential he showed when touted as a State of Origin prospect at 18.
