South Sydney centre Colin Best has warned his teammates not to underestimate the ability of Canberra halfback Marc Herbert when the two teams clash at ANZ Stadium on Monday.
Herbert and rookie Josh McCrone have been assigned the task of leading the Raiders' attack in the absence of NSW five-eighth Terry Campese.
The pair have played just 15 NRL games between them.
Best said Canberra had relied heavily on the attacking brilliance of Campese over the past two seasons.
But the former Raider said Herbert had what it took to lead Canberra in Campese's absence.
Best said Herbert had the potential to come out of Campese's shadow in much the same way Campese did when the Raiders sacked Todd Carney midway through last year.
''Campo's obviously their go-to man,'' Best said. ''But in saying that Herby is a good little player.
''I think he's very underrated. This might give him the opportunity to take over and run the show.
''When [Carney] and Campo and Herby were all there together, Herby was right up there with ball playing out of the three of them.
