Campo ready for last-ditch Origin effort

Campo ready for last-ditch Origin effort

01 May, 2009 08:13 AM
Terry Campese is confident a recent run of injury and illness won't hinder his representative chances, after returning to training with the Canberra Raiders yesterday.

Campese had his first run since recovering from a virus that badly affected him during Sunday's loss to the Bulldogs.

The 24-year-old, who is the front-runner to play five-eighth for NSW in this year's State of Origin series, has also struggled with a foot injury recently, meaning he has trained just twice in the past fortnight.

It has been a far from ideal preparation for Campese, especially with Country Origin selectors set to name their team for next Friday's clash with City on Sunday.

But with just one game left to rubber-stamp his Country jersey, the form playmaker was confident his absence from the training paddock wouldn't affect his representative chances.

If Campo doesn't get picked for Origin I will resume my hatred of LEAGUE (which commenced during the Super League war) and emigrate to Laos to train as an ultimate fighter (I hear the heavyweights are only 70kg over there)

This isn't about Campo but I wanted to comment on the story about Nick Kouparitsis, and specifically to make 2 points: (1) the Raiders should seriously have made moves to bring him back home to the nation's capital, as it sounds like he was bargain for the chooks (2) I outplayed him many times when he was running around for Daramalan and subsequently for the Eagles colts team.

Campo and the raiders should start worrying about where the teams next win is coming from rather than rep footy....if your team isnt winning the individual aint going to get notice...ask monners about that one bc he is not going to be picked for the roos

If Raiders are looking for sponsorship then perhaps after tonights effort against the storm they should try Microsoft. They always break down at the play, hardly work, are over-rated and met the blue screen of death tonight. A poor poor effort.
