The Raiders must dramatically improve their decision making in attack if they want to post a winning score against the Penrith Panthers at CUA Stadium tonight, according to coach David Furner.
But Furner said there was no need to seriously tinker with Canberra's attacking structure, despite the fact the Raiders scored just four points against Newcastle last week.
Pointing to the fact the Raiders had scored a combined 50 points against Melbourne and the Gold Coast Titans before last week's inept display, Furner was confident his team could re-discover its potent attack against the Panthers.
''You've got to take the right opportunities,'' Furner said.
''We created enough opportunities to score a few more tries against Newcastle, but they defended quite well and I thought a few times there we didn't take the right opportunities to get over the line.
''We need to because you only get a few opportunities and we need to make sure we convert those chances.''
Considering their good record in Penrith and the fact the Panthers have conceded 70 points in their past two games, tonight should present a good opportunity for the Raiders to re-discover their attacking flair.
The Raiders are likely to go into the clash without Queensland prop David Shillington, who suffered a chest injury during Wednesday night's spiteful State of Origin finale.
Shillington travelled to Penrith with his teammates yesterday and faces a fitness test this morning.
If he fails either Joe Picker or Glen Turner will come onto the bench.
''Shillo came off a very physical game on Wednesday, he may play, but I won't know until the morning,'' Furner said.
Raiders prop Dane Tilse was confident his team could overcome the loss of Shillington, with the return of NSW back-rower Tom Learoyd-Lahrs boosting a pack that acquitted itself well against Newcastle.
Tilse said the Raiders' pack wanted to redeem itself, after being out-muscled when the Panthers travelled to Canberra in round eight.
''They're a big, physical side that got in our face a bit last time,'' Tilse said.
''We're just going to have to weather that and give a bit back.
''They have good line speed so we're going to have to come out pretty hard at them.''
The Panthers have their own injury concerns, with NSW centre Michael Jennings struggling with calf and shoulder complaints that hampered him on Wednesday.
If Jennings fails to play Geoff Daniela will come into the starting side.
The Panthers are eighth on the ladder, four points clear of the 12th-placed Raiders.
Panthers fullback Jarrod Sammut said his team was approaching tonight as a must-win game.
''It's definitely must win,'' Sammut said. ''It's that time of the season where every game counts.
''We definitely need to win to be in contention of staying in the top eight. Hopefully Jenno will be right to play.''
Sammut identified Raiders playmakers Terry Campese, Marc Herbert and Alan Tongue as the players his team must keep quiet.
''We've just got to get our defence right and hopefully shut their play down,'' he said.
