Carr clears contrite Campese to have a crack at the Kumuls

22 Sep, 2009 10:25 AM
Canberra Raiders five-eighth Terry Campese has been cleared to represent the Prime Minster's XIII in Papua New Guinea on Saturday, after his club and the ARL both opted against sanctioning him following his arrest at the weekend.

Campese's place in the annual fixture against the Kumuls had been in jeopardy after he was arrested outside Walsh's Hotel in Quean-beyan on Friday night.

But the Raiders and ARL agreed the $550 fine he was slapped with for failing to leave the premises when asked was sufficient punishment.

The Raiders issued a statement yesterday that said Campese had apologised to both the police and the publican of Walsh's.

Campo, our club has spent big dollars on you. Please don’t end up being another Todd Carney nightmare. Pull your head in, and don’t be a disappointment to yourself and your fans.

Amazing how this story failed to get any traction in the NRL newsletter "the Daily telegraph" whose owner half owns the NRL

I can't believe anyone would be ejected or refused from a place in QBN. He should be charged with been seen in a place like QBN. Campo stay away or you'll end talking and looking like them.

Sydney raider As I said - on the day the NRL were considering whether he could play in PNG there was no sign of the story in the Telegraph. A few weeks ago they stated that it would be a NRL scandal free paper and they have kept their word.

Hay JT - pull your head in - he was born and bred in Qbn. Is a model to the school kids and will always say hello to my kids and discuss last weeks game when seen in Riverside plaza, or discuss the best PS3 games in EB Games even though he does not know them. We dont all have three heads out here, after spending 30 yrs of my life in the ACT, Qbn is a more friendly community.
