DISCARDED Raider Troy Thompson is ''filthy'' and ''shattered'' at being told by club management he won't be offered a new contract for next year.
Coach David Furner informed Thompson during the week his days at the club were numbered, despite the prop about to conclude his 10th consecutive season as a Raider.
The 30-year-old was told there wasn't enough money in next year's salary cap because the club had to pay so many young players bonuses for this year.
But Thompson questioned the explanation, believing the decision was more personal than financial.
''They reckon a few of the young guys had made their bonuses so the money situation was tight, so then they go and sign Brett White for $300,000,'' a frustrated Thompson told the Sunday Canberra Times.
''I was filthy. I don't get it. All I wanted was one more year.
''When I last met with the coach on our second bye [in round 12], he told me how good I was going and that the club was looking to offer me one more year. Then I get called in on Wednesday and was told there's nothing for me and I'm out the door.
''It's just a crap feeling. I was shocked to be honest because all the boys were telling me I was playing the best footy they'd seen me play for ages, and then I cop this.
''If I wasn't contributing on the field it might be easier to swallow but I think it's more personal.''
