Lock Shaun Fensom is on the verge of making his NRL debut as the Canberra Raiders again turn to youth for their match against the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday night.
Injuries to Trevor Thurling (ankle) and Nigel Plum (ribs) will force coach David Furner to reshuffle his squad after its 23-18 win over the North Queensland Cowboys on Monday night.
Fensom was named as the only addition to Furner's squad for the round-five match against the Sharks.
If the coach sticks with the 19-year-old, last year's under-20 premiership winning captain will be the fourth Raider to play his first senior game this season.
Jarrod Croker, Travis Waddell and Josh Dugan all made their debuts in the opening four rounds.
Thurling was ruled out for at least four weeks yesterday while Furner opted to wait until later in the week to make a decision on Plum's fitness.
If Plum is ruled out, Dane Tilse and Joel Thompson will come into contention for a spot in the top grade.
''I need to sit down and get the results on Trev Thurling and Nigel Plum and then we'll look at who's going to come in,'' Furner said.
''But we have got a short turn around and it's something we need to get on to pretty much straight away.''
The Raiders have just four days to prepare for the Sharks after notching their first win of the season against the Cowboys.
While injury continues to spread through the forward pack, dynamic fullback Dugan was one of the first selected to make his second NRL appearance this weekend.
The 18-year-old showed why he has been touted as a future star with a strong first-up performance against North Queensland.
