The Canberra Raiders hope new recruit Danny Galea will prove as good a signing as another former Wests Tiger Bronson Harrison.
The Raiders unveiled Galea as their newest addition to their 2010 squad yesterday.
Galea's decision to leave the Tigers and move to the capital comes one year after Harrison made the same journey.
Harrison played every game and cemented himself as one of the NRL's most dynamic back-rowers in his first season with the Raiders.
While Galea hasn't got his sights on his mate's starting spot just yet, he hoped he could carry his career-best form from the end of last season into 2010 with Canberra.
Galea turned down rival NRL offers as well as a three-year deal in England to join the Raiders on a one-season contract.
''I'm concentrating on just getting on the field and getting a spot somewhere whether that's off the bench or starting I just want to get on the field and worry about winning,'' Galea said.
''I felt at the end of last year I was starting to hit peak form and get good game time so I wanted to give it another shot [in the NRL].''
Galea will join the majority of the Raiders players today when they get put through a gruelling pre-season fitness session.
Galea, 26, adds depth to the Raiders back row and can play in the centres if required.
Galea could find himself in the centres to start the 2010 season with Phil Graham (Roosters) and Adrian Purtell (Penrith) leaving the club and Justin Carney and Jarrod Croker recovering from surgery.
Canberra chief executive Don Furner said the Raiders had enough salary cap room to add another outside back to their list.
''We are looking to bolster the back row ... we have got a young back line so if [Danny] was to play there his 100 games would give some good experience there,'' Furner said.
''Everything we asked about and were told was that Danny was an outstanding clubman and a good person to have around a young group.''
