Canberra forward Danny Galea hopes his late-season return to the NRL will be enough to convince the Raiders to re-sign him on a multi-year deal.
Galea has been trying to negotiate a new deal with the Raiders to extend his stint beyond the end of this year.
And despite fielding two offers from English Super League clubs the 26-year-old said his preference was to remain with the Raiders.
Galea will travel with the Raiders to Brisbane today as they prepare for their last game of the regular season.
The Raiders need to beat the Broncos at Suncorp Stadium tomorrow night to guarantee themselves a finals berth.
Galea has played just eight games after signing a one-year deal with Canberra.
While his exposure in the top grade has been limited, he hoped he had done enough to warrant a new contract.''I'm talking to the Raiders at the moment and I'd like to get that sorted out,'' Galea said. ''We're talking, so that's pretty good news and hopefully we'll find out in the next week or two.
''I'd like to stay down here for more than just one year, especially now that I'm happy and I think the club's pretty happy.''
Galea is expected to keep his place on the Raiders' bench for their round 26 clash in Brisbane.
