Penrith whiz-kid Wade Graham is finally making amends on and off the field.
Thrust on to the Panthers bench for Monday night's clash with Manly, Graham almost singlehandedly delivered Penrith its first win of the season as he engineered a stunning fightback in the wet at Brookvale Oval.
Having repaid the faith shown in him by coach Matthew Elliott who demoted the 18-year-old to the Toyota Cup for the opening two rounds of the competition Graham then declared his intention to remain a Panther amid speculation he wanted out of the club.
Graham's manager Mark Stewart said his client was keen to seek opportunities elsewhere after being overlooked for the season opener, with Melbourne said to be one of the clubs interested in his services.
The talented youngster distanced himself from the comments following the win over Manly, declaring he was happy to battle it out for a berth with the Panthers.
''I'm an 18-year-old kid and I haven't earned the right to be chucking tantrums if I haven't been put in the side,'' Graham said.
''Obviously I was disappointed I wasn't playing, but I copped it on the chin. I just knew I had to go back to the [under] 20s and wait for my opportunity. There was a bit of backlash but I had to get it out of my mind. I'm happy at Penrith, [I'm] Penrith through and through.''
Delighted with Graham's input in the win over the Sea Eagles, Elliott stood by his decision to overlook Graham for the opening two rounds.
''The reason Wade didn't start the season was because he wasn't playing good footy,'' Elliott said.
''The pressure's not been internal pressure. I've certainly not put any pressure on him.''
Graham replaced starting halfback Jarrod Sammut after 19minutes at Brookvale Oval, but the pair will line up side by side against Wests Tigers on Saturday night with Graham named in the No6 jumper. AAP
