MELBOURNE Storm gamebreaker Greg Inglis is poised to make a shock return to the field against the Raiders at Canberra Stadium today, just four days after he feared he had broken his jaw.
But an anticipated all-Origin duel with Joel Monaghan may not eventuate, with the Raiders centre still in doubt with a corked thigh.
Raiders coach David Furner will give Monaghan until just before kick-off to prove his fitness, after he suffered the cork playing for NSW in Wednesday's State of Origin loss to Queensland.
Monaghan was restricted to light training duties at yesterday's captain's run and winger Adrian Purtell is on standby should he fail to overcome the injury.
''We'll wait until game time,'' Furner said. ''It's an important game and he's a quality player.
''You need those guys on the field, but if he's not fit then we'll look at Adrian Purtell.''
Inglis will also have a fitness test this morning to judge whether he has sufficiently overcome the concussion he sustained when he copped a nasty high shot from NSW five-eighth Trent Barrett.
