McCrone set to fill void for Raiders

20 Apr, 2009 08:10 AM
Josh McCrone says he is ready to fill the void left by injured Canberra Raiders halfback Marc Herbert.

Herbert will have scans on his right ankle today, but is likely to miss at least four weeks with a syndesmosis sprain picked up during the Raiders' six-point loss to the Gold Coast Titans on Friday.

His absence opens the door for McCrone, who appears certain to make his NRL debut after Raiders coaching staff insisted on resting the 23-year-old from feeder club Souths Logan's 58-10 win against the Burleigh Bears on Saturday.

Finally we get to see what this kid can do. But as long as the Furner lets him play his game and doesn't just make him a catch and pass man.

Its great to see all the up and coming younger lads making their debuts....what a fantastic way to upskill and build confidence while at the same time field an exciting team....very impressed with young Waddell, he can look to a confident future im sure.

we need to blood these young players sooner or later, clearly we cant expect to sign any known players from other teams so we need to rely on our own pool of talent... Come on Josh fire up against the Dogs this weekend and make the sceptics eat their words..

It will be good to get a look at Mcrone. Being at the gold coast game what seems to me the biggest thing that hurts the Raiders is basic errors, penalties and turnovers, everything else that the team does points to us being up there as a contender. There also seems to be a general mood that we get on the wrong side of the 50/50 calls, I dont think it has allways been that way,the raiders teams of the 90s did not have that problem the mentality has slipped into the team, and I think we can change it Go the raiders
