Josh McCrone says he is ready to fill the void left by injured Canberra Raiders halfback Marc Herbert.
Herbert will have scans on his right ankle today, but is likely to miss at least four weeks with a syndesmosis sprain picked up during the Raiders' six-point loss to the Gold Coast Titans on Friday.
His absence opens the door for McCrone, who appears certain to make his NRL debut after Raiders coaching staff insisted on resting the 23-year-old from feeder club Souths Logan's 58-10 win against the Burleigh Bears on Saturday.
