 Monaghan gets Blues call-up

Monaghan gets Blues call-up

18 Jun, 2009 02:57 PM
Canberra Raiders centre Joel Monaghan has been included in the NSW side for State of Origin II on Wednesday, after Michael Jennings was ruled out with a calf injury this morning.

Monaghan beat Bulldogs centre Josh Morris for the position, after both had been training with the Blues as cover for Jennings and fellow injury concern Jamie Lyon.

Morris and Raiders back-rower Tom Learoyd-Lahrs have been released from the NSW camp.

Learoyd-Lahrs will return to Canberra this afternoon and will play against Manly at Brookvale Oval on Sunday.

Wednesday's game at ANZ Stadium will be Monaghan's second Origin appearance, after he debuted in game three at the same venue last year.

The Blues' training session scheduled for Central Coast Grammar School today has been cancelled.
