Monaghan jumping up and down for Kangaroos jersey

30 Apr, 2009 11:01 AM
Joel Monaghan will make a last-ditch bid to save his Australian Kangaroos jersey on Saturday night, when the Raiders take on Penrith at Canberra Stadium.

The Canberra Times understands Monaghan is on the outer with Australian selectors, who will name their team for next Friday's Anzac Test on Sunday.

With just one game left to state his claims for the clash with world champion New Zealand, Monaghan would need a huge performance against the Panthers to retain his spot on Australia's wing.

If his game doesn't sway the selectors, who are poised to name an all-Queensland backline for the rematch of last year's World Cup final, he will be named in the centres for Country Origin's clash with City in Orange on the same night.

Come on Monners, Fire up this weekend and show them all what you can do.. Starting with smashing Elliot's panthers this week...beating him is such a nice feeling.

can some one let us know if campo is staying, taking a long time to sign him cant be to hard to organize a meeting with terry and his manager as we need him to stay badly, can someone answer me why do most other clubs just sign there players without it going in the paper, but we always have ours out for everyone to see

Well said Alan. I honestly don't know what is taking them so long. What do you think we should pay him? I was thinking about $350000 per year. Is that enough to keep him?

If Campo is out, id say we will cop a drilling from the panthers, it seems like a broken record but, we just seem to lack playmakers - im a canberra lad living in Sydney and the only good goss we get on the raiders is usually second hand, the latest i heard was Mick monners is a special to come home for next year, i really hope thats true, we need more ball players like him and Campo..

Signing Terry again will be a big addition to the raiders plans, there can be no possible reason for him not to be resigned, he has probably been playing for under market alue from the last contract anyway as he did not really show his stuff untill after he signed the last contract. Sign TLL as well. Michael Monaghan would complete the options either side of the ruck. Go the green machine

well said j hope it happens asap because the longer they take the more chance other clubs have a chance to steal them from us like old history lets go raiders

I think I agree with that Big Al. One request though, can you please try and slide some punctuation marks into your posts? It is not pleasing to read. Thanks in advance.

Agree with the majority of the posts. What we really need though is a good kicker. I kicked the winning penalty goal in my 3rd grade grand final once, so I'm happy to throw my hat in the ring if the position is open. I'm happy for match based incentives as well, probably a six pack of VBs per game. It's not asking too much is it?
