Raider McCrone unfazed by Hunt

31 Jul, 2009 11:05 AM
Raiders halfback Josh McCrone's response to learning code-jumper Karmichael Hunt would line up opposite him during tomorrow's clash with the Broncos at Canberra Stadium was simple.

''If he can play AFL he can play halfback''.

Hunt is set for his second big switch in a week, with Brisbane's regular fullback preparing to shift into the halves for the crucial clash with the Raiders.

Unrelated youngster Ben Hunt was named to play halfback for the Broncos earlier this week, but it was the older Hunt who was running alongside five-eighth Darren Lockyer during Brisbane's ballwork session yesterday.

McCrone was unperturbed by the news he would line up against the Queensland Origin star, who on Wednesday announced he was joining AFL's newest club on the Gold Coast.

''He's played in the halves before so I think he'll have no trouble with that,'' McCrone said.

''It doesn't really faze me to be honest. I just can't wait to get another run at home.''

Hunt's move to halfback means Josh Hoffman will retain Brisbane's fullback position after an impressive showing in the 34-18 loss to the Gold Coast Titans last weekend.
