The referee who may have cost the Raiders victory over Parramatta has been dropped from this week's NRL round.
Chris James was left off the NRL match official appointment list for round four, with NRL referee's coach Robert Finch choosing to give the 32-year-old rookie a break.
Finch told The Canberra Times the decision to drop James for a week came after two below-par matches.
''I think the Eels and Raiders match was one match, but the week before also there was some discussion about his game and I think those things affect young referees,'' Finch said.
''It's just like a young footballer, they all make errors, and you have got to be able to learn from them and move on, but also take him out of the spotlight for a week.
''There will be others that will also have a week out in the coming weeks.''
Finch and Raiders coach David Furner spoke for about an hour yesterday about a number of decisions that went against the Raiders on Saturday night.
Furner was frustrated after the side's two point loss to Parramatta, and told the The Sunday Canberra Times there were ''some mistakes out there.''
Yesterday, Furner said he was pleased that some action had been taken by Finch.
''I will always look at what we are in control of and what the players need to improve on, but I did feel there were some mistakes by the officials that didn't help us out one bit,'' Furner said.
''They don't say they got it wrong, they describe it as a harsh decision, and Robert agreed there were some that were harsh.''
