Raiders give Vidot chance in NRL side

08 Jul, 2009 08:13 AM
Teenager Daniel Vidot has been selected to make his NRL debut against the Newcastle Knights at Energy Australia Stadium on Saturday.

Vidot will start on the wing replacing Justin Carney who fractured his leg in the Raiders' 32-26 win over the Titans last Sunday.

Coach David Furner has made five changes to his side due to injury and Origin selections.

Prop David Shillington (Queensland) and second-rower Tom Learoyd-Lahrs (NSW) will miss Saturday's match after going into Origin camp yesterday.

Utility Trevor Thurling, who played right centre on Sunday after Carney's injury, has been dropped to Queensland Cup side Souths Logan.

Joe Picker (second row) and Dane Tilse (prop) move into the starting side to cover Shillington and Learoyd-Lahrs, while Joel Thompson and Scott Logan come on to the bench.

Back-rower Glen Turner has been named at 18th man.

The explosive Vidot graduates to NRL after good form for the Raiders under-20s, scoring a hat-trick of tries against the Storm and crossing the line against the Titans.
