Canberra Raiders chief executive Don Furner will meet with Terry Campese's manager Jim Banaghan in Brisbane today, as the club continues its attempt to ward off rivals and extend the contract of its star five-eighth.
The Penrith Panthers became the first NRL club to confirm an interest in recruiting Campese this week, as the 24-year-old prepares to cash in on his stunning form over the past 12 months.
Penrith boss Michael Leary admitted his club was interested in Campese, amid rumours the Panthers would purge their playing list to free up the necessary funds to get him.
The Panthers will reportedly make a $350,000-a-year offer to Campese, who is contracted to the Raiders until the end of the 2010 season.
Campese's current deal is well below market value because of a brilliant run of form that has him leading this season's Dally M Player of the Year vote count after five rounds.
