Raiders lose another home game

03 May, 2009 11:16 AM
THE Canberra Raiders' season is on the ropes after just eight rounds, following an 18-10 loss to the Penrith Panthers at Canberra Stadium last night.

Panthers winger Geoff Daniela scored two tries, including the match-winner with just three minutes remaining, consigning the Raiders to their third loss at home this season.

The Raiders have won just two of their eight games heading into this weekend's bye and are now four points adrift of the top eight.

They have won just one game at home this season, a horrible record for a team that won nine from 12 at Canberra Stadium last year, while averaging more than 30 points per game on its home turf.

Raiders skipper Alan Tongue said the players needed to have a good, hard look at themselves, after being out-enthused by a Panthers outfit that they crushed 74-12 late last season.

''There's no sugar coating it, we need to have a look at ourselves,'' Tongue said.
