Raiders stand by their man

13 May, 2009 08:26 AM
The Canberra Raiders will stand behind Dane Tilse this week and are adamant he will not be distracted by his past in the lead-up to the match against the Melbourne Storm on Monday.

The NRL went into damage control yesterday following an ABC Four Corners report on rugby league sex scandals and player attitudes towards women.

While the story centred around group sex allegations by Cronulla Sharks players, Tilse's indiscretion in Bathurst four years ago came back to haunt him.

The talented forward was sacked by the Newcastle Knights at the start of 2005 after an alleged sexual assault on a 19-year-old woman. He was banned from playing in the NRL for one year before joining the Raiders in 2006.
