Striking charge may sideline Learoyd-Lahrs for Panthers clash

28 Apr, 2009 10:28 AM
A shocked Tom Learoyd-Lahrs said he would be filthy if an NRL judiciary charge stopped him playing in the Canberra Raiders' clash with the Penrith Panthers on Saturday.

The damaging Raiders forward was charged with a grade-one striking offence for making contact with the throat of Bulldogs centre Jamal Idris in the 70th minute last Sunday.

Learoyd-Lahrs was not reported by either referee during the 30-20 loss and was stunned to find out he was facing a week on the sidelines.

The 23-year-old copped a seven-match ban for a dangerous throw in August last year.

Hear we go, nothing in this just another chance to kick the raiders when they are down. Lets ask Phil Cooley about the disgraceful no try on the so called knock on by McCrone. Thats 3 times this year when a refs/ video refs called has swung a game result against us. Lets hope it will eventually even out.

your 110% RIGHT larry! last week it was a zillman offside try that cost us the match this week. andrew ryan i think it was, scored off a foward pass! NO WAY IN HELL did mCcrone knock on, but you know what i knew it wasnt going to be a try! in round 1 taniela tuiaki scored a try after being held! in the eels game, danid milne was given 10 in the bin, for no apparent reason at all! carney scored in the dying stages and it was called short! in the same game {eels} campese goes for a 40/20 and is taken out, groth stops it from goimg out by batting it back into brett kellys hands a metre out but was called back, on that occasion justice was served through a joe picker try! in everyyone of these cases the commentators at the time all sympathied with us but where does that get us? nowhere!!! ive had enough of the conspiracy theories against our wonderful team! someone has to bring it to the attention of someone higher up! paul kent was right on the money in his article last year on how we get the least amount of tries green lighted by the video ref and the most green lighted against us! and now learoyds going to miss a game for an offense that wasnt even picked up during the game??? i bet ANY money hes suspended????? heck id even put my house on it!!!!

I have it on good authority that Michael Picker will play five eighth this week. Campo is not 100%. I don't actually know Mick personally but as I go to plenty of functions etc I should eventually become mates with him. I have seen Joe (his brother) up close at a party in Turner and didnt have the guts to say hello but rest assured I will build myself up to eventually introduce myself to both of them. Go Raiders. ps Video refs are killing me. pps Tommy Learoyd is a big loss. I have a girlfriend now and she reckons he is handsome. I suppose he is really but I'm not that way inclined.

TLL has plead guilty to the striking charge and will miss a week. THIS WAS A REAL SOFT OPTION. The so called 'strike' was totally accidental, yet the Raiders Management just accept to bend over and take it to avoid rocking the boat! Meanwhile, Ennis the grub is defending his blatant chicken wing tackle and will probably get off. NOT HAPPY, DON!

The Raiders have always had to play 14 men, its a fact of the NRL.. We have to be better than that and not let the referee dictate the game, WE need to be better at putting the little disapointments aside and keep our heads down and play footy. I agree we dont get all the calls but I was about 20 m from McCron's try and I called knock on straight away... Dont worry we always show up against the Panthers and this week will be no different!!, GO YOU GREEN MACHINE!!!

Someone should do a statistical study on the video ref in relation to canberra and the other teams. Last year one was done and published in the telegraph and found that it was impossible for canberra to get the results they were getting without being dicriminated against.
