Alan Tongue remains on track to play against South Sydney on Monday night, after successfully completing a series of tests on his injured right wrist yesterday.
But the Canberra Raiders skipper must complete the rest of this week's training sessions to prove his fitness.
Tongue went through a series of simple catching and passing drills under the watchful eye of club medical staff, as he continued his bid to put off surgery until the end of the season.
Coach David Furner said he had done enough to suggest he could take his place against the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium.
The 28-year-old will train with the team for the first time in nearly two weeks today.
Tomorrow's opposed session looms as a crucial test of his ability to continue playing this season.
With surgery to repair ruptured ligaments at some stage this year a formality, Furner said his captain was desperate to play through the pain for as long as he could.
''He'll be right to train [today] and we'll just see how he goes,'' Furner said.
