Canberra Raiders skipper Alan Tongue will require pain killing injections before every training session and match he takes part in for the rest of the year.
But that doesn't concern him one bit he's just happy his season isn't over.
Tongue confirmed himself as a certain starter for tonight's clash with South Sydney at ANZ Stadium by completing his team's final training session yesterday.
The fact that he could train, let alone play, is a remarkable effort considering he requires surgery to repair ruptured ligaments in his right wrist.
The courageous skipper admitted his wrist was extremely painful.
But he vowed to continue leading his side, regardless of personal discomfort.
''I only have to think back to a couple of weeks ago and I was talking to the doctor and thinking my season might be over,'' Tongue said.
''I'm pretty pleased to be able to have another crack at it and I'm feeling really confident, it's gotten better and better as the week has gone on.
