Young guns shine in poor '09

How do you rate your team's performance this season?

David Furner: I think by our standards we underachieved. There were a lot of changes to the side and we had some injuries at the start of the year which stopped us from getting away to a good start and we lost some confidence. I thought our back end of the season was pleasing, as it showed we can match it with the top side. But before the first ball was kicked off we had aspirations to make the top eight and we didn't.

Who was your best forward?

DF: It's a tough question because I don't think you can say one forward. We had some consistent performers with Bronson Harrison, Josh Miller and Alan Tongue. The players voted for Josh Miller as the being the most consistent, but I thought our forward pack as a whole was the most consistent part of our team.

Who was your best back?

DF: The results show that probably Josh Dugan was the best for us. He received the rookie of the year and the players' vote, which is important. I thought Dugan, along with Jarrod Croker and Daniel Vidot played more matches than I thought they would. At the start of the season we were looking to get them some valuable NRL experience and it ended up that they played most of the season.
