Prop Ben Alexander is confident he will play in the ACT Brumbies' Super14 season opener despite admitting his broken hand has not fully healed.
Alexander trained with the main squad yesterday for the first time in almost a month.
However, the Wallabies forward was still uncertain how much contact training he would do this week in the lead-up to the Brumbies' round one match against the Western Force in Perth on Friday night.
Brumbies coach Andy Friend is expected to name a full-strength squad to play the Force either today or tomorrow.
Alexander is a likely starter while Friend will wait until closer to the game to make a final decision on injured duo Matt Giteau and Rocky Elsom.
And after Alexander played his first four games from the bench last season, the 25-year-old was determined not to hand his starting XV spot back without a fight.
''I think the hand will be right, but it still hasn't 100-per cent healed,'' Alexander said.
